Smoking and Breast Cancer

The relationship between the carcinogens contained in tobacco smoke and the development and dissemination of cancer of the female breast is being slowly teased out. At present, the complexity of the interactions has produced an overall impression that suggests that there is no clear link between cigarette smoking and breast cancer occurrence and prognosis. However, recent investigations, including that of Fentiman et al. contained in this edition, are starting to offer some insight.
